A Life of Goodbyes
Lets just stay quiet.
No one talk, no one breathe.
This is what it looks like
when we've reached the end of our road.
This is refusing to make another connection.
Simply stating that I don't want to know
what happens in the outside world.
I don't concern myself that way anymore.
I have so many new friends
that arrive in the form of tears.
They keep me busy most of the time.
So I raise my foot in an expected stride
but stop midway through because
I don't know what direction
is meant for me.
That is the moment when I'll learn
to speak about the consequences that
follow painful goodbyes.

Choices
Nothing like a goodbye to make new choices, some painful while others are joyous, present themselves. I am currently in the middle of some of those choices myself and this poem hit me harder than I expected. Nicely done!
Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too.

loss can make you feel you've...
lost all direction and purpose. Time heals so eventually your speaker will move forward and love again.
jezza - you use such striking images in your poems. Having tears as new friends is a remarkable thought!
Great work, jezza!

A powerful write
Jezza... I don't know what it is about this poem of yours, but it is one to be read over and over and never lose any of its power over the reader. I enjoyed it many times over.
For all it's worth...
