Ode To A Dictator
Here they come all dressed in white
Upon steeds built for war
We know not what is in store
When they speak with all their might
About a future that blinds their sight
They think they can offer more
Than those that came before
When all they do is block the light.

A very good piece of poetry. The theme concerns me and very well written at that.
Thank you for sharing
Thank you
I am glad that you enjoyed the piece. This was a first effort for me to write a Sonnet, they are tough, so I am glad this suceeded.
Interesting. I have a close
Interesting.
I have a close friend from Chile who has very conflicting feelings about Augusto Pinochet (whom I consider to be a murderous bastard).
I thought of Luis when I read your poem.

Thank you
We will always have dictators in one form or another. Look at Pablo Escobar in Columbia, not elected but he did dress up some slums and gave to the poor whiles robbing, and slaving them and he is thought of highly still. In America we had F.D.R. who violated the constitution by running for office four times serving three, Lincoln also violated the constitution but in doing so actually brought the nation back. Pinochet, the only positive thing anyone can say about him is that not as many people died during his reign as they did under Husseins. Thanks again for the read and the review. I am glad as well that it reminded you of a good friend.
