What Must be Done
Oh what fool am I to love
When it hath no love for me.
Truth, when I did say I adored thee,
Love was thy response.
Love to tear apart oceans and level mountains.
Oh Lady of ancient hallowed halls!
My heart cries out when thy beauty calls.
Oh Nightingale! Oh what sweet song thou sings!
Your master bade you deny my love.
Gentle linnet, thou did obey.
Oceans were born from tears that day.
Thy song was no longer heard.
Thy radiance now longer seen
Yet thy presence lay in my broken heart.
Thou claims to love me again.
With tears to flood the land.
Sooth, gentle mockingbird,
Thou master calls again.
And I must answer for your stead.
No more letter shall I receive from thee,
No, I have torn thy love apart.
I shall not do it again.
Thou must stay, sweet dove,
Locked in thy cage.
Dedicate to my dear friend Jacob.
