Thanks, Pete!

We awoke and he was here,
We who wrote soliloquies
Saw light falling on our words,
And the darkness was no more.

He appeared and seemed to care
If we wrote or we did not,
A frank mind providing grist
For our new creative thoughts.

He swung wide communion's doors,
For he longed to share with us
His deep love of poetry
And of those who write in verse.

(Also, I would like to thank
willow, David Gibbs and Linda
who have all lent me their hands
in finding my way on The Poetry
Showcase.)

Hey

Joyce,

This guy sounds like a helluva guy, damn sure would like to meet him.

One question my friend: In line 1 onf stanza 3 did you meand to say "communion's" or "Communication's"?

Thanks for pointing this one out to me, I just gotta get to know this guy.

Smiling broadly,

Pete

you're welcome, Pete

I think you know him well. By the way, since you are such a picky fellow, the second definition in Webster's for communion is "the act of sharing one's thoughts and emotions with another or others" which seems to fit in rather well. On top of that, it has the right number of syllables which is sometimes even more important than meaning! lol

joyce

I sit corrected

Joyce,

I was trying to be picky just precise. See, by asking that little question I learned something new today. The has not been wasted.

Thanks my good friend,

Pete

Dear Joyce

You are the best! That was so sweet of you to write, and i agree with you on Pete {the mayor} and David Gibbs and Willow {wish she was still here}.
So, i guess since we are all one big family here, that makes the five of us siblings!...Niceeee!
great poem joyce,
Linda

Ummm

I'm a bit lost for words, but thank you very much Joyce. Not sure I helped you that much, the quality of your work would have got you noticed anyway! I always enjoy reading your pieces, thank you again,

On the importance of readers

One thing you have to say about poetry, it is not a solitary pursuit. It's meant to be read and discussed. You're lucky, Joyce, to have made such a good friend through your poetry. -- MS

Willow

Hi Joyce Linda, and nice to meet you Pete just thought I would pop in to say hello and thankyou Joyce and Linda for your kind words hugs to all from Willow xx

Hello Hello..

A very sweet poem Joyce and very true there are a lot of talented poets here for us all to look up to. Pete (in particular) who's come in recently and showed the rest of us how it's done (Thanks).

--Oh.... also I saw Willow's comment here and i had to stop in and say Hello! and thank her and DEbs for their encouraging insight, and helping me out on this ever-growing site~~ B.E.Coast ^ _ ^

thank you all...

It is kind of like a family here - we listen to each other, and with Pete's help, are communicating back and forth more. That can help a lot in understanding each other's work and each other. It can also improve our work by the constructive criticism (hopefully always) we receive and by seeing what others do right. I am so happy to have willow back with us if even just as a commenter! She was, and is, an invaluable friend. Thanks again all for reading and commenting.

Very Well Said Joyce

We who genuinely care are going to make this the best poetry sharing site on the web. We will not only develop a love for what each of us has to offer but we'll develop a special bond the the art affords us. I will promise to always be up fron and completely honest in my comments. They won't always be pats on the back but they will be with your best interest in mind. I can get a lot better and so can the rest of the crew. One day I hope to reach a level close to David Lewis Paget who I personally think is brilliant.

Ok, now I'm off of my soapbox.

Luv ya all,

Pete

bravo, Pete...

I'm sure I speak for many in saying that we are looking forward to it!

It can be done

Joyce,

I believe it can be done. As a matter of fact I've invited a couple of my friends from another site to come over and join us...they will fit like a hand in a glove. I hope they make the move because I know that you will develop the same affection for them that I harbor. This is the first site I have haunted where I truly feel at home and that we all have a common goal...the betterment of each other. Who can ask for more than that?

Your brother in words,

Pete
