The Train, a Stalking Cheetah

Awake again at 3 a.m.,
I sense the humming vibrations.

The train, like a stalking cheetah,
Alert, quivering,
Impatient to chase its prey,
Suddenly unleashes its bridled speed.

I imagine lighted windows,
flashing down tracks
In a streaming cascade,
Accompanied by the rapid rhythm
Of metal striking metal
Over and over and over...

The horn, wailing like a forlorn moose,
Calling her lover home.

train sounds and moose calls

If you 'd like to hear the real sounds made by trains and moose, I found a couple of great web sites!

For trains: Youtube - Autorack -Trains

For moose: www.smouse.force9.co.uk/sound.htm
Really good is the one that says Moose
call (real)?
