A Tip of My Hat

A tip of my hat,
My head and my heart,
I give to the man I love.
He works hard to earn his pay,
And prays to the Lord above.

I've been feeling a little guilty for spending so much time on the net lately and neglecting my poor husband. So I showed him this poem. I don't think it cured the problem, but maybe it helped a bit!

Thanks for the very nice comment!

You said a mouthful

Joyce,

You stated so clearly your admiration and love for this man in no wasted words. Minimalism handled properly can make great statements.

Your buddy,

Pete

thanks, Pete

It just came naturally, this one. Must have been in my heart waiting. Thanks for the kind words.

You' ve made my day. You'll have to wait til later today - I want to post a new poem and I'll have to leave for work. But I'll be back! joyce ps - you're not old or I would be, too!

nice one

Joyce -- This is very touching and a wonderful tribute to your husband and I enjoyed reading it. Line four is a little off on the meter and so this is a case where the tanka form has caused a problem. If it were "He works hard every day" the emphasis would fall on the word "hard," which seems better to me. But I can't imagine how you would come up with a seventh syllable! (I thought about it.) So, better leave it the way it is. -- MS

Thanks for your thoughts...

I appreciate your taking the time to think about this so carefully.
