Heartbreak
A broken heart is shattered glass ripping into your soul,
Tearing at your mind until the pain is as physical as it is mental,
Shuddering breaths that don’t draw air,
Pain that cannot be banished with a single tear ,
Love is displaying your heart on a shelve for people to see and admire,
Tho when your heart is on display there’s always a chance for it to be broken,
For a small accident or a single trip up to smash it to pieces,
Would you lock up your heart? Hide it away? Keep it from which it rightly belongs?
No, for even though the pain of Heartbreak is severe, love is worth all that and more.
For the pain of a lonely heart is a pain eternal, the pain of a lonely heart is devastating,
The pain of a lonely heart is death.

The extended metaphor is
The extended metaphor is really well constructed.
Like, taking the idea of heartbreak and taking it literally, through the use of imagery really highlights even the physical pain of heartbreak.

Well when you think about it, it realy is physical you feel the pain you feel so much you want to burst splitting the seams of your humanity you lose all hope, your hearts never the same again
