All Right
I tilt my head right
What a beautiful scene!
The oak and the pine in full greenery
The tall grass with crickets jumping
The bees buzzing to each daffodil
A squirrel hopping up a pine tree
An eagle watching intently
The mountain looming behind this scene
Its peaks sprinkled white like icing
A movement below
A deer, its ears perked up
It stares in my direction and freezes
Then bolts
What am I doing here?
I tilt my head left
What a horrific scene!
The grass is burnt and smoldering
The brown soil is burnt black
The sheared metal scattered amuck
The burning debris and the blackest of smoke
An arm or a leg lay not far, angled and broke
A high pitched cry of ‘Mommy! Mommy!’
The jetliner wing is angled up, looming
Its tip on fire, smoke spiraling
A rescue craft hovering
A man sliding down a rope
I place my hands down
But cannot get up
I look at them now and find I have none
I realize my pain and how close I am gone...
At least it’s alright
If I tilt my head right.
