My Way

If only I can close my eyes and sleep
For that would be the only time
That things go my way
For if it were my way I would not take the bus
Nor a train, car, or plane to Alamein
But I would sprout wings or defy gravity
I would glide over the land, far, far above
I would see the desert with patches of green
Dark roads like snakes striking whichever way
On and on past Alamein
North past Sinai, no parting the Med for me
Ill glide over Europe at night
And witness the cities covered in ferry light
Ill visit my family and my friends
Go to places I’ve never been
And then be able to say I’ve seen
Then check the time that Egypt has
And run with all speed till I get lifted up
I glide back south towards my house
And land on the roof and into my room
To tell my mom I’m home and see what’s new
And she will be happy
Because I’m home early from curfew too
