Relieved at last

She’s lying awake on her bed
Her mom is shouting and arguing
She’s walking out the room
Her boyfriend punches her in the face
She’s walking into the kitchen
Her sister screams in her face
She’s opening the drawer
She has detention because of drugs
She’s putting the knife to her wrist
Her big brother looses his daughter
She’s making her decision, and slashed her wrist

Blood drips down her wrist and falls on the clean kitchen floor
Each drop represents a problem, leaving the body thus leaving her mind
The pain seems to subside, not aware of how many cuts she has
She falls on her knees and looks up
A small smile of relief appears on her face, as the blood falls from all places

Her therapist says it’s wrong
But she finds it right
How can she cope with the stress without it?
Doesn’t he see he’s taking the one thing that keeps her happy?
He can’t say what’s right and what’s wrong for her
So she doesn’t listen to him and turns her back on his advice

She stops
She continues
She stops
She continues
She continues
And continues till the blood continues to flow
Till her relieved face looses the pink flush and is replaced by a pearly gray.
