The Basement of Dr. Ide

Bubbles spew from test tubes
Naked fetuses make home here
Swimming
If the dead can swim

Over in a dark corner is a caged beast
Two brown, pointed ears
Four tiny little paws
One fluffy tail

A beautiful kitty

Blood is pouring out the eye socket
Dark river flowing
Hope it doesn’t drip to the shoes
They look new

The lightning outside rattles
Like a baby shaking Zeus’s bolts

Cracked light stabs the basement with light
You see a flash of grey hair
Looking more like a spider than hair

Even with the sudden lightning he doesn’t flinch
Needs a clean steady eye
For a doctors job
