crossroads

“Cross roads “
As she rode on in the back seat
of her momma’s car /
she remembered all the paths ,
she knew them all by heart
but one day at a cross roads ,
a stranger caught her momma’s eye
her momma left with that stranger
and told her goodbye

she was to young to ask directions
to young to understand
and I saw her at the crossroads
reaching out her hands
there was no one to stand beside her
no one to see her through
she was left behind forgotten
on a path she didn’t choose

as she rode on in the back seat
of the stranger’s car
she remembered all her paths
and how she broke her girls heart
but soon after her ride
someone caught the stranger’s eye
and at a crossroads in the night
well it’s the momma’s turn to cry

but she was to young to ask directions
too young to understand
and I saw her at the crossroads
reaching out her hands
but there was no one to stand beside her
no one to see her through
she was left behind forgotten
on a path she didn’t choose

she was to young to ask directions
to young to understand
and I saw her at the crossroads
reaching out her hand s
but there was no one to stand beside her
no one to see her through
she was left behind forgotten \
on a path she didn’t choose
