BIG, RED LOVE
BIG RED LOVE
An affair
to remember
and rekindle
each year,
the “love apple”
of the garden
my juicy, red sphere..
Sun-kissed flavor so sweet
and so robust
it feels just like love
but maybe it’s lust….
My mind you fascinate
paired with basil you dance,
I can’t help but revisit
this old romance.
Plucked straight from
the vine
drawn up to my face,
my teeth ache to seize
this fancy orb
of such grace.
One bite punctures and
bombards me with juice,
I knew it was coming
such carnal abuse…
Slippery seeds expelling
all around my face,
no chance of capturing them
scattered, all over the place.
The tomato, the pomadoro
the regal, lypocene king
a tender, brief indulgence
my summertime fling……

Damed I'm hungry
Linda,
One of my favorite things in the whole world is a wonderful "home grown" tomato. Down here in Orlando I need to wait until September to plant some, it's just too freaking hot.
Luv ya,
Pete
