Poetry for me is full of emotions
Life experiences and sometimes confessions
Feelings that were kept in my head for too long
Make their way out now, where they belong.

Writing can make me feel silly it’s true
The more serious poems help me get through
They give me relief from this daily grind
Where’s my paper and pen? I must clear my mind.

Sometimes, my poems, they seem like a song
Putting them to music would not be wrong
I wouldn’t sing them if it were my choice
You’d know what I mean if you heard my voice.

Poetry has helped me in so many ways
I look forward to creating at the start of the day
An aerobic exercise, just for my brain
Except with poetry, I won’t feel that pain.
