Out of mind

I hear footsteps in the hall
The phone keeps ringing, but nobody calls

I light a cigarette
Then I see 3 already burning in the ashtray

I see a pigeon on the window sill,
He starts to fly away
I run towards him and beg him to stay

I wake to a preacher on TV,
Telling me to find the righteous path
So I get down on my knees to pray
Then I begin to laugh

I light another cigarette
and see 4 already burning in the ashtray

I see a mouse in the corner, he runs
I ask him to stay and play

I open the shade and stare out into the pitch black
My heart races like it will jump from my chest
So I quickly snap the shade back

I hear kids running on the stairs,
I swing open the door
But there’s no one there

I light another cigarette, But cant find my ashtray
I sat it on the couch and that’s where it should stay

Its too bright in here, so I turn out the light
But the lamp has no bulb
I’m so hot now , I take off my clothes

That’s all I remember now
Darkness, then light
Then I’m standing here on a cloud..

WOW!

Really eerie. This piece sent shivers down my spine.

I liked so much about this poem, 'I light another cigrette.....' Very cleverly written and good use of repetative phrases. I couldent help thinking of 'Sixth Sense' in parts of this write.

Definately one of your best pieces ive read so far.

Debs

Thank you

Tj and Debs, This peice was pictured in my head before I started writing it. hmm,
guess that is kinda of eerie??

Bravo!

This is definately one of your best. Much differant than other works you've written. I like the new style you've chosen here.
