Insomnia
***INSOMNIA***
One night alone has left him scarred
His dreams, for now, have all been barred,
Sleep is gone he’s wide-awake
This unreal realm is not a fake,
It’s stolen thoughts, his memories
Construes perception of all he sees,
It drains him low no more he sleeps
An unknown enigma rose from the deep.
Deep in the mind there lies a place
Where endless thoughts seem to race,
Baffles the mind, creates the real
Choice of sleep seems so surreal.
The sky is speckled gray on black
Soon the light will flood right back,
But sleep will still elude his grasp
Thoughts of stress create his mask.
Viewed by eyes in the other world
Eyes jet black and fingers curled,
A subconscious state of wakening
Can’t hold his dreams so safely in.
Deep in the mind there lies a place
Where endless thoughts seem to race,
Baffles the mind, creates the real
Choice of sleep seems so surreal.
His eyes wide-open seeing shades
Of blue and yellow, serenity fades,
Lightning strikes the auras clear
Loss of sleep he no longer fears.
Fearing his sanity slipping away
Breaking the limits of night and day,
Proving to him and all of his race
Sleep denied sanity; they’re able to face.
Deep in the mind there lies a place
Where endless thoughts seem to race,
Baffles the mind, creates the real
Choice of sleep seems so surreal.
Decrepit rags of his inner self
The absence of emotional wealth,
Dreams of night now in the day
Making life one constant way.
Six weeks on the edge of sleep
No longer gaining what rest reaps,
His energy is drained so low
He feels death is the way to go.
Deep in the mind there lies a place
Where endless thoughts seem to race,
Baffles the mind, creates the real
Choice of sleep seems so surreal.
Sleep no longer holds the cards
He’s broken away; he wins at last,
Auras, creatures, stress and dreams
Insomnia’s gone; it’s dead it seems.
Eternal rest on the astral plain
Interrupted sleep still remains,
Dead and gone no need for rest
For now he feels best of the best.
Deep in the mind there lies a place
Where endless thoughts seem to race,
Baffles the mind, creates the real
Choice of sleep seems so surreal.
