The Best Mother
THE BEST MOTHER
There is a woman you could know, if you are lucky
Compassion is her forte, even if she is angry.
Now that I know her better, then when I was a kid
I see the reasons that she had for everything she did.
Though when I was a kid, I never saw it that way
All I ever saw was her retribution every day.
With age comes understanding, unlike any other
To know the fact, that I now see, I have the best mother.
There is a woman you could know, if she comes your way
Who will just sit there and listen, to what you have to say,
After which she’ll recommend, a sound piece of advice
Whether or not you heed it. She won’t think about it twice
But rest assured, common sense, always would prevail
And with these words please understand, Jason and I did fail,
More then once and more then twice, she did rue and suffer
But we were immensely privileged to have the best mother.
There’s a woman you could know, I’d lay my life down for
A Cockatoo once attacked her whilst vacuuming the floor,
She ran from this bird, instead of kicking it away
I’m sure she would be laughing, reminiscing of this day.
Now every word I have written, should be carved in stone
I know these sentiments are not exclusively my own,
There are aspects to be proud of, in me, and my brother
And those attributes are thanks to the only best mother.
