The Five Gifts of Life

Have you ever wondered why we see the world the way we do
With eyes so full of colour yet without a colourful hue?
Perhaps you’ve even pondered why an odour can be acrid
And if we couldn’t smell it, could we decipher the difference?
I know at times I’ve wondered if this daily cacophony
Is enjoyed more by a blind man, simply ‘cause he cannot see,
And could I discern the variance between hot and frigid
If I’d never felt the tapestry of life’s’ living fabric?
And I’ve wondered how tantalising a barbeque would be
If we didn’t savour every taste there was for us to eat.

Every question raised, is raised rhetorically
Fore there is no real answer, even to me!
It’s simply true, that no matter how we try
It’s easier to live if we have all five.
