Tomorrow's Lament

TOMORROW'S LAMENT
Thomas realized, while he sat motionless, in his vehicle. That so much of the worlds’ inherent anger and inhumanity, towards one-another, was directly due to the fact that no one bothered to get to know one-another any more.
As he dealt constantly with society’s discarded and shunned portion of mankind, he also found himself privy to depths of the human spirit he never knew existed.
And what follows is his story…

During abusiveness as normal
Seeing justice as a joke,
The violent portion of this city
Seems to be, more in-control.
At an early age he made the call
That he’d fight the noble fight,
And always, no matter, in the end
He’d always do what’s right.

As an adolescent protector
He did better then he knew,
He saw the Homo sapiens, soul.
In everything he would have to do.
When he saw a twinkling of hope
He gave, benefit of doubt,
5 out of 10 times, it would pay off!
When he won… he felt so proud.

This was the idealistic view; Thomas was competing with, at this point in his life.
You see, he was only 23 at this point, and the vast majority of the things he had seen, were, well let’s say, SICK.
This was fore most the reason why Thomas never trusted anyone.
Most people will find themselves pessimistic in their younger life, well I’m not sure why you would classify Thomas as different, but he just seemed a little bit too pessimistic!

Well he dwelled, too long in man’s defeat
On the other side of half,
Dealt with more then anyone should know
But came out, of it, still sharp.
Only slightly battered and beaten
In an victim’s sort of way,
A recluse hidden within his mind
Waiting to explode one day.

With the escapades from younger life
Where his wife did pay the price,
To the fortunes of stability
And his present loving wife,
When he confronted and convicted
A brutal terrorist cell,
Christina was assaulted then raped
Ever-since he’s lived in hell.

You see at this point in his life, he was searching for answers. Trying to make sense of the unspeakable and unconscionable occurrences that had befallen him, at such an early stage in life.
Then he found Tracy. He never thought he would ever find the same happiness that he had with Christina.
And the atrocities of the past just seemed to fade away!
And he gained an optimistic outlook…

Within every facet that he saw
He looked a little deeper,
With intent, he looked right to the core
And kept at bay the reaper.
Now looking back, he learnt tolerance
To believe in mankind’s heart,
Born from, the, “Christina” episode
Now Tracy’s the other half.

Now forty; his happiness transcends
Anything he knew before,
‘Cause he no longer needs to contend
With his sorrow anymore,
Since he now does understand, at last
The moral I’ve tried to say,
Which is mourn but don’t regret the past
It molds who you are today.
