A Worded Waterfall

Almost ethereal in its beauty
So gorgeous, is it even really there?
As it crashes over the precipice
A fine spray of mist billows through the air.
Now I stand here, awe-struck by its splendour
Watching its renewing veil of mystique,
As its heavenly white-wash dissipates,
It spreads out, to fill the rivers and creeks.

Now what languishes behind this wet wall
Is a darkly lit cavernous alcove,
In a striking, conflicting symmetry
To the surrounding exterior groves,
This too has an enchanted allure
Beckoning insistently from within,
Like the serpent in the holy garden
Trying to tempt that original sin.

But the magnificent flow of the falls
Is too enticing a sight to give up,
To explore the darkened realms of a world
That the hand of man may never have touched.
Now I return to a life so mundane
That I find my mind beginning to stray,
And just wishing for the chance to explore
The majesty of the falls once again.
