Monochromatic Existence

Where is the rainbow in this dreary black and white world
Where we are puppets on strings doing exactly what they want
They tip this way only to raise our hands to cover our mouths
To keep words that have not yet been formed from coming out

Where are the vibrant reds and oranges that used to burn
Only emotions of spiteful nature colored in hot temperament
Hearts bleeding in painful preconceived notions
Of the sheer blazes of our own fiery damnation are left

Where are the yellows that were once our light
Has it gone now that ambition has been replaced
And all that we have is this sour spite
That fills the darkness that surrounds our thoughts

Where are the greens that used to grow
Since there is nothing that is left to prosper
And the only sort of luck you can get
Costs more that anyone of us can afford

Where did the blues and purples go
Since we have no tears left to cry
And faithfulness gets you no where
Truth drowned by all these lies

Where have all the other colors gone
All we’ve been left with is black and white
Stifled by our own inadequacies
By not standing up for what we know is right

Where do we turn to rediscover our rainbow
of colors that were once everything that was good
Vibrant hues of love, passion, happiness, fun
Cut the strings, find our voices, and let’s move on

COLOR

I wish this site had the option to color...it looks so much better here...

Prism Prison

Nell,

I have to believe that any right thinking person can understand and agree with your words in this piece. I believe that one of our problems is that we have surrendered far too much power to our Governments...that are supposed by and for the people.

More people need to start questioning the decisions being made by the "good old boy" club known as congress. Until then we will continue to be marionettes dancing to their tune.

Good points made my friend,

Pete

Pete~

Thank you so much Pete! My mom read this and said "ewe it's depressing" then felt my forehead to see if I was getting sick...she didn't get it. Thank you for understanding; I knew I could count on you! Your comment is right on and much appreciated.

Always,

~Nell

No Sweat

My Friend Nell,

You know I'm always here for you. You keep writing them and I'll keep letting you know what it says to me.
