Loss #1

Steaming cholera
Silver tongue
Sweaty palms
Down beats

Pained laughter
Happy tears
Wispy clouds
Heavy burden

Noiseless running
Violent panting
Chunky body
Silent scream

Behind the Window

Pain hidden behind the look,
Frozen for all to see.

Distrust fills the air,
Floating free.

Stiff and formal,
Innocence trapped.

Anger seared with fear,
Hatred uncapped.

Demented Democracy

The temporary vision overwhelmed
the elastic conversation set in motion
by an elongated triangular myopathy
which foretold the unknowable love
of a tragically flawed mysticism

Dad

I threw open the door; he was always there
Power and strength
A hot temper that sizzled on the burner
Roaring laugh that scattered the uninitiated

I threw open the door; he was always there

Avenging Angel

Tan and hard
Dirty black scuffs
Wearing them since his death
Hidden for years in the closet
Couldn’t imagine being without them.

Miss his laugh
Miss his anger
Miss his strength

Lost Whisperings

Words undone as smiles creep across sullen lips
Windows empty, limbs flail while hands clinch
Candles flicker, eyes close, feet ache with cold

Night shuns the fire’s warm breath

Victories Short Lived

Shrouded in darkness
Avoiding all eyes
Victories short lived

Music blasts
Feet pound
Desire to stop

Silence all around
A pair of bright eyes
Rush from behind

Blast of air
End is near
