Lost Whisperings

Words undone as smiles creep across sullen lips
Windows empty, limbs flail while hands clinch
Candles flicker, eyes close, feet ache with cold

Night shuns the fire’s warm breath
Hearts yearn under hollow stars’ brilliance
Nothing to be said, everything to be known

A shutter rolls through her body as lashes flutter
Tilt of the head, a click of the tongue
Lead to the tantalizing arch of the back

Long, luxurious hair falls wordlessly on a flaxen arm
Glistening skin dances playfully as ice tinkles softly
Frozen rivulets float in a bronze tide speaking noiselessly

Eyes seek solace as shadows dance from room to room
Breath warms the neck, tender touches soothe tired minds
Soft splatters of late evening rain quiets lost whisperings
