Get Well Soon
This overused hospital bed
gives leeway to a much needed rest.
These needles caress my arms
with filthy tape stains---
The pain dissipates.
Fluorescent lights burn my eyes
the erratic beeping sound never fades.
Strangers’ voices whisper
Heavy gasps are heard.
The flowered covered room
and heartbroken stares
cause pain throughout, which these pills could never repair.
