mother and the son

'She is a rich man's wife ' they said
running from the life she had led

With her she brought her son
her one and only born

In the hospice her son lay
his body wracked and on display
his eyes were red
and from the mouth he bled
on the summers day

The women tho ill n sore
tended her son night and day
after a week n a day more
they were healthy as before
but since they had left their house,
they had no where to go

a generous nurse then took them in
adopted the son and made them a kin

days went by and years drew nigh
when time flew without a sigh
on 4th of june, one early morn
the women found her young boy gone

she ran up and down the hill
calling him till her voice was shrill
evening came and morning too
the boy was gone without a clue

days went by and years drew nigh
no day passed without a sigh
her visits to the market and the fair
were tinted with expectations there
As all turned to watch the shows
her eyes scanned the peopled rows
as tho she were expecting him there

Then one day...
a man from another county came
saw the boys picture and exclaimed
'this boy is someone that i know
he lives near my house below'
the women heard this and shook with relief
as tho rescued from the cliff
in tears she ran around the room
her face a flower in the bloom

next day...
at ten to two they reached the house
and a young man opened the door
the women stood rooted to the floor
scanning his face to be sure
her son a man ,a boy nomore

the nurse waited in the car
the mother son strolled not so far
she could see the mother plead
as tho her heart were about to bleed
then she saw the son run
into the house and bang the door
while the mother watched and watched some more

As evening chased the fading light
the mother sat staring into the night
for something had within her died

after that day...
when they went to the market and fair
she no longer looked with expectation there
her eyes scanned the pews no more
for she wasn't the women she was before
