Woman of substance
They called you a princess
and then a bastard,
and then the Queen of the land you mastered
A king's daughter you were
shunned once or more,
by the lust of a power hungry nation.
you rose from ashes,
side stepping the lashes,
you emerged victorious and great
Your chilhood scandal had rocked history.
your love life till date is a mystery
Was it Robert Dudley or Tom seymore?
Who was it you loved more?
or
was it the land that took the first place?
was it the past that you sought to erase?
when you lived a virgin life
stayed a virgin till you died

A nod to the Virgin Queen
mimi,
I'm sure that Victoria, were she alive, would find merit in this piece and bestow upon you her blessing. We were entertained she might say.

An Educational Experience
Now I know more
Than I did before.
I, too, just finished reading a book called...
"The Virgin Queen". She was a very strong woman and did a great job as queen. The book I read did not think she stayed a virgin, but then it was historical fiction, so who knows? Great job on this poem, mimi.

thanks, mimi...
It was written by Philippa Gregory. She wrote the book, "The Other Boleyn Sister", and many more historical fiction books. She is very good.
