I Hear That All The Time

Five years
the road is long and hard on the gone again
these tears
falling from the clouds in my eyes
there was a girl I knew in the gone away
her voice was sweet as wine
she said I don't know what to think of you
I hear that all the time

Raven hair
falling down in curls on her gentle breast
eyes a green
growing like the grass in my mind
they say that where she goes is a go again
and her lips are sweet and fine
they say that she is like a know again
I hear that all the time

where did she go?
well I wander through the halls of the emptiness
time will go
yeah everything will pass in time
but I wonder what the future past could hold
if only I had been more kind
they say that what you love you can not hold
I hear that all the time

.

Do you sing this sir? It is powerful blues.

Thank you. Yeah, I do sing

Thank you. Yeah, I do sing it, but I didn't write it as a blues song. It's more what you would call "folksy" I guess, acoustic guitar backed/based. It's interesting that it might seem bluesy on the page like this and that feedback is very helpful and interesting. I'll have to give that some thought. Thanks for reading. Cheers!

true as it may seem...

loving is not just an invested feeling/emotion, it is more of the ability to understand something that seems to be beyond our comprehension. Pain may come in. Again, pain is not just a state of getting hurt, but it is more of the ability to accept that something we didn't understand but still chose to love.

fantastic. sigh...

I was hooked in the beginning with the "gone again" and "gone away". I hate it when poets (myself included) get strapped into language instead of going for the malleable nature of it -- a loose hold can convey so much the more it seems. (still sighing--so good)

Thanks! I can send you an mp3 if you're interested. I know what you mean about the language which is why I like to write songs from time to time. It's more forgiving word wise. It can also be kind of playful and light. Writing song lyrics is kind of a reverse process for me - the music comes first, then the words follow. Unlike poetry where the words of course always come first. There's a weird polarity in my creative processes there that I've never been able to completely resolve which is part of why I'm writing poetry again: to see if I can write songs from that "other" direction.

Why can't I edit my posts on yours or Bela's poems?

Hmmm... I have no idea. I guess it's in the settings somewhere. I'll have a look.
