Dear Dr. Phil,
I watch your show everyday and it makes me sick
but still I continue to watch it
glued to the screen without blinking.
Your bald shining head disgusts me and your wife looks like a whore
but I still listen to every word you say
And drink it in like liquor.
Your guests are all lunatics who I mock from the safety of my livingroom
but I still feel sympathetic
and I wish I could reach out and hug them.
Dear Dr. Phil
I hate your show, but cannot stand to miss it.
Can you help me?

This is a true commentary of modern American culture. Shock TV. We all say we hate it, but when it's on we can't look away. We laugh, we cringe, but deep inside we all think "thank God that isn't me". Well done.

i tried to hide the fact that i watch dr. phil, but thought that the time has come to reveal my shameful secret!! i am a white south african with sympathies in the middle east, africa and asia, and am thus not positively disposed towards america (no offense). though this poem is by no means political (i hate political literature), i do harbour a deepfelt resentment for the absolute dependancy the rest of the world tends to show towards america - its food, celebrities, way of living and its tv shows, which i tried to express in this (rather clumsy) poem.

American culture isn't culture. It's processed McDonalds and every piece of corporate graft you can think of. Trust me. I don't like it either. The media is bad as well. Controlled by the government.
I don't mind anyone throwing stones at the glass White House which is the symbol of my country. The problem is we can't change anything. The joke on us is that the Electoral College put Bush in office in the first place. He lost on votes, but still got in. Total corruption. Well, a few thousand innocent lives later, we're still in limbo. Almost every other nation in the world hates us. Bastard.
Okay. My rant is over.
