HURRICANE ANONYMOUS
Cutting like a buzzing saw through the open waters
The high tide you splish and splash
You carve an Atlantic bubble-bath
The hungry waves, powerless, crash
Islands cower in your anticipated path
Fish schools are wise enough to avoid
Devoid of emotions you plough on nearer
The lonely Earth be your steering wheel
You pry open the heavens
Bringing forth a saturated hell
The Heron know your game well
The twilight of day
Shifts merciless unto night
Such an ugly paradox
The thunder roars
Horizontal rains pore
The train doesn’t sound like this
Your circumference scurries the gecko
Past the horseshoe-crab’s swallowing echo
The rocky barrier our construction
Wooden piers shaking in the howling distance
Cleansing the eye
Totally Fragile
Sea walls being human
Inadequately agile
You bellow rainbows across the barometer
Your mask a blackened thundercloud
Geraldo grasps his street-sign for dear life
His feeble microphone
Put in check
Sharks swim in the dark
Subdue them all when you make the landfall
Battering the shore line
Your tropical tentacles furthermore
Poseidon twirls along his category four
Once upon a minute
The old patch-eyed sailor foretold
Yar!
Never be too sea-bold
For only a man be you
Matey!
Lightning strikes
Chickenpox the shore
As more and more and more
The seashells lay abandoned
Sea’s weed caress the beached marlin
Convulsing, its gills gasp the air
And the sand dollar rendered worthless
He was cash-valued and storm surged
The Oceanic debris
Now carpets the pristine beach
So spurious our plight
Seagulls swarm in awe
Bakaw! Bekaw! Bekaw!
Clouds recede but return to white
As you throttle the undertow
Tides ebb to flow
Only your axis
Can alter the coast line
Forever
100 miles with hours of gale trauma
The palm’s tree now uprooted and reunited with his turf
You toy again and pillage the surf
Your molecular shape chillingly mirrors the atom’s shadow
Hurricane…
We know you only a certain time of season
You bring such treason
Such an impolite house guest you are!
