I remember when I was young

my grandma always said "baby praise His song"

I smiled, but my young mind quite didn't understand

now on this long hard journey to becoming a man

I praise His song to follow His plan

oh yeah baby! when i was younger

my grandma use to drag me to church

I couldn't wear jeans or regular street clothes

she dressed me in khakis and uncomfortable dress shirts

but it made her happy to see me dressed like a young man

now as i look back at those moments and mesmerize, i want to cry because i finally understand

yeah!! when i was younger my grandma use to hit our rear-ends

"better not play with the water hose" but we couldn't resist the sin

we sprayed the hose and got everything soaked

we knew she would be mad, but we just laughed and joked

now my cousins left for home and i am all by myself

to my surprise she called me downstairs and whooped me with belt

oh! those were the days! when i was younger!
