The Hanged Man
I hold all the cards,
I am in charge,
You don’t know what’s coming up next.
An Ace on the flop,
A nine on the river?
A pack of lies, is all I see.
Sitting there,
About to be dealt to the player on the left.
Knowing that it will bring certain death.
Death is not wanted,
At least not at this moment.
For that Ace just gave me a hand.
I peek over the barricade of my cards,
Hoping to see a foe revealing emotion.
I reach for my chips.
I reach for the dip,
The icing on my little cake.
I smile a smile,
A broad whole-hearted smile,
And pull in to my chest all my winnings.
