Why I Write
I began this odd habit forming game not for fun,
Nor to express my feelings.
I began this game of poetry to win over the people,
The people that mattered.
The people I hadn’t met.
I knew that they would love me,
Love more than what they saw on the outside.
I then began to love poetry,
And writing made me feel great.
I came upon a revelation,
A revelation that poetry would make me a better person,
And that it would make a difference in someone’s life.
The first one has come true.
The second, not yet.
I’m still hoping,
Wishing, praying,
That my words will change someone.
That is my wish.
That is my dream.
