Awaiting Hurricane Ike
Trapped, I lie in tired depths
Waiting for the devil winds
Whirling storm on fluid steppes
I'm calmly paying for my sins.
Swirling tempest from the East
Bearing down on Florida's shore
Ike's the title of this beast
He'll give us all his shock and awe.
Hurricanes, like death, they stalk
From the East, the trade winds send
While we wait at home and talk
Will they get us in the end?
At our TV sets, we stare
Sweet security we crave
Uttering our strongest prayer
To slay these monsters of the waves.
Savage Ike, you've got no friend
Across the sea, your fury rakes
For what harm do you intend
And what lands are now at stake?
I'd send you back from whence you came
If the power of storms I could assume
But compared to you, I'm weak and lame
So I'll just hide out in my room.

Thank you Ironconnell!
I was kind of scared when I wrote it, but thankfully it has missed us in S. Florida. I have been in several hurricanes down here and they fill you with dread. In the last one (Wilma), my neighborhood had no power for over two weeks. It was no fun!
best sentiments
For everyone down in that area,, to stave thru Ike and whatever names they give to the ensueing storms that may follow »BRYCE
Thank's Bryce!
We have escaped Ike's wrath. But I feel sorry for the people in the areas it has hit.
