Sugar and spice

I turned around and tones of nigh
Filled the space and pierced me through.
Not a clue of former light,
And not a movement. Where are you?

You were here a breath ago;
Your smell still mesmerizes mind.
I floated on, and didn't know
That you were somewhere far behind.

I searched for you on peaks of lust
And swam in oceans of despair;
Ruffled grass and bothered dust.
Where are you, my sweetness, where?

I rushed through past, through every day,
I knocked on doors, but not a man
Has ever met you on his way.
Did I lose you? Sugar, when?

At last, I found myself alone.
It's all regret and sadness now.
You've left a mesage on a stone:
"You lost me, bitterness, but how?"

Oh!

My sweetness!
How sweet!
