Today, I stop and wonder about your life when you were younger.
How your interests may have changed, and how your life could've been rearranged.
You've faced a whole new year, adding it to your name,
And, I've only known you for a short time so it seems pretty lame.

I sometimes wish I could drag the cursor back on your life;
See every thing I've missed and keep in check with a list.
But, in the end it wouldn't make up for the time I realize I lack.
Honestly, I wouldn't dare ask you to go back.

Legally you're labeled as an "adult", but it doesn't mean your life's about to halt.
Hopefully, you find an adventure even when you get dentures.
But, for now you're turning eighteen, and I wish for you to stay.
My hope is that you'll always be happy especially today, since it is your eighteenth birthday.
