Could I Bring Light To One?

Something candid, something cheerful, some demanded
We played the game and moved the pieces, with our plans
And all of God's children made plans, and useful schemes
And yet I was still, wrapped in clothes of misunderstanding
Trying to address the problem at hand

Something candid, something cheerful, some demanded
We played the game and moved the pieces, with our plans
Was I one of God's children, could the light come to one...
My clothes, old and tatered and everyone else slick and
Magazine sleak and with success at hand

Could I bring light to one
is the gleam and sparkle gone
My eyes know a past of suffering
Incomprehensible to others, no one would understand
The gates of hell's door were always open, on bruised knees
a litany of chants dwelled in my house: devil go from my life.....

Bring light to one, as my bleeding knees need comfort
as i stared at a basket of fresh juicy red plums
upon the dining table, fruit, sweet and mellow...
on my knees, as I was not the devil's fellow!

Great

I love this piece. It sounds like a testimony of realized salvation and eating from the LORDs table like Psalm 23. Also reminds me of these verses as well Colossians 3:12-14 where we are told to clothe our selves in Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness, and Patience and they are all bound together with love. This so being when we give up those dirty rags and brokeness and we eat what is Good in Gods Word we can clothe our selves with these things and be transformed not only internally but in countenance as well. Not ours but HIS. For we have nothing in common with the devil and he will flee from Gods love. Thank you once again for this piece! please keep posting.

this poem is what my life, heart and circumstance have been, yet i know
not a soul but i could really comprehend, and then your review came
along with such a gift and magic and the scriptures you quoted i will
have to read and internalize, til the message heals..... yes, how i
often repeat to myself, devil leave my life....
