A Moment Of Truth For Africa..By P E Adotey Addo
The violence that rocked the world
Reached horrific levels resulting everywhere
With loss of children, women, and men for days
Burned in a church as they were seeking sanctuary
And sanctuary was denied
In flames by mobs infuriated by votes.
The innocent victims faced their rage
Seeking help from locked doors and homes ending
As charred bodies and trash in the once silent streets
No water from kinfolks and no food from neighbors
With nothing gained to be sure.
Only we can save ourselves from this rage
Dedicated to those who lost their lives in the post Election Riots, Jan .2008

Clearly this was an event
Clearly this was an event beyond the horrors of tragedy. Thank you for helping me to feel this just a little deeper, as far removed from this form of extermination as I am.
There are some awkward images and grammar here, but overall you've depicted the catastrophe well. The "world wars" never really ended, did they? They just keep moving about to different places and so much of the absolute monstrous behaviour of us humans is largely swept under the rug, relegated to page 33 of our local papers. But alas, I agree there may yet be hope for us "ragers."
Keep writing. Thanks for the read.
Tragic...
Yet expected. As mean as that sounds, Africa is comprised of over fifty countries and has been the theater for puppet dictatorships, slavery, and civil unrest. You have expressed a well written and powerful poem and lovingly dedicated to the survivors. As far as the election itself, it is indeed tragic that one of the very few free elections that continent has seen lead to such atrocities.
You have made a soul feel....

Your word choices and descriptions bring this tragedy to life and all
its worldly implications..... When will freedom come? When will
equality be victorious? When will everyone's rights be recognized?
The implications add, and gather dust in the wind, as does time.
When will all the hatred end? The winds just continue to blow...
