Climbing To The Light
It comsumes me
This black cloud of heartbreak.
Dispair becomes a knife stabbing me,
Disappointment, a club hitting me.
Shame lays me low.
Hurt is a lump in my throat I can't swallow.
Loss, a stone in my chest
I can't find the way out
of this morass of fear and sadness
That makes my stomach clench and
unclench, my heart palpitate in dread
So that I become paralyzed with it.
Like Atlas, I carry the world upon my shoulders.
I MUST BE
I allowed it to comsume me, to envelop me.
But only for a little while.
I made my way out and saw the light.
The light is
you do the best you can
show loved ones that you care
treat others as you want to be treated
and make your mark on this world to be remembered well.
