Does Anyone Know?

Twas once upon a year ago
I thought I knew my name.
Just what has happened since that time
might let me place the blame.

I signed a piece of paper,
and I put it somewhere plain.
My name was written clear as day;
I know I'm not insane.

I've looked up high;
I've looked down low---
and places in between.
But no where in this house of mine
can any note be seen.

If I can go by what I'm called,
I'm even more confused.
It seems I have a lot of names---
which leave me unamused.

'Honey Bun' and 'Sweetie Pie'
don't bother me a bit;
but certainly 'Old Lady' makes
me want to throw a fit.

'Hey You' might be my first and last;
I wonder if it's true
that 'Stupid Dummy' just could be
the one that sticks like glue.

Too often, I hear anger
in a voice that makes it clear
'Dam U' must be a prefix
plus initial that I hear.

Confusion has a hold on me;
my mem'ry flew away.
If you can figure out my name,
I'd thank you if you'd say.

Did you say my email comes
addressed to who I am?
Oh, wait! I think I've got it now---
my name is surely 'SPAM!'

Sharon,

This wonderfully constructed piece deserves more comments that it has garnered. Your wit is still as shapr as ever and the ending line was the cherry of all cherries.

Keep the faith,

Pete

Thanks for commenting!

I've gone back to writing more humor and certainly appreciate your comment, Pete! I may try posting a dark poem or a serious poem to see if those types get comments.

SPAM's busy as ever!

Thanks for commenting! I've not been on the net much the last few days. We're have a ton of landscaping work done including the installation of a new sun garden which I'll be planting in the coming days. LOL---I've got to enjoy summer while it's here.

Sharon

wow....its really worth it..

My mum's got green fingers and loves all that stuff (planting and weeding and whatever else she gets up to)
I personally love nature....but just to look at,lol......when my mum asks me to go fetch her radishes or lettuce from the garden, my eyes squint and I get a shiver down my spine knowing I'll be touching all those worms and insects as I'm uprooting them,,,gardening aint for faint hearted!lol....good luck with the new sun garden, rather you than me ;)....peace.

LOL---I never think about the worms and bugs

Your reply made me smile. I never think about the worms and bugs, but you are absolutely right about them being in the gardens. Japanese Beetles are a big problem in our area, but I'm guessing one of the neighbors put up a trap because we don't have many.

Sharon

wah?....Japanese beetles??

they dont sound pretty!, I hate beetles, especially those shiny ones who have a weird coat of bluey green sheen on their backs....my 2 yr old daughter thinks they are fairy horses and loves to play with them and put them in the flowers to collect the fairies...I try not to pass down my phobia of critters to her, so I let her handle any harmless creature she finds....she loves it,lol.
