"Daddy, Where Are You?"

I sit on the hill of a moor
Looking down below.
I see the land unfold before me
In its radiant glow.
Beneath me is a pond
and beyond a field.
A picture perfect moment
In my ever changing world.
I get up slowly and brush off my dress.
The flowers I'd picked falling to the ground.
I playfully run and tumble down the grassy moor,
Until I reach this pond.
Once at the pond with its glassy blue waters,
I kneel to look inside.
Staring back at me is this thing.
This thing gives me chills of fright.
At first, I don't realize just what this thing is
But slowly realize this thing, is a fish.
Not just any fish but a dangerous one,
It's a pike.
I don't know what it was that drew my eyes away,
But as I looked up into the field I saw a beautiful sight.
There was my daddy.
I knew it was him.
The fear drained from my body
And I felt my legs breaking free.
I know he'll keep me safe.
I run towards Daddy, reaching for him.
Daddy's my shelter, I know.
There's a tree nearby and Daddy is nearing its shadow.
Suddenly, as Daddy reaches the shadow of the tree,
The shadow opens and Daddy falls.
"Come back, Daddy!" I cry,
"Come back!"
I hear the scream release
Before I can stop it.
Everything goes black.
I feel myself being shaken.
I toss and turn.
Suddenly a voice breaks my cries,
"Sweety, wake up," she cooes.
"Wake up."
I sit up in bed.
Mommy's there.
"You were dreaming again," she says.
"Dreaming of Daddy," I say.
"Daddy's not coming back," she scolds.
I lay back on my pillow
Tears streaming down my face.
"Daddy," I whisper.
"Daddy,"
But Daddy is nowhere to be found.
