Sunset

Shivering, trusting
Arms of strength,
Drawing me near.
A summers night,
A dream.
A sunset over a wooded park.
The sky changes colors
Before my eyes.
First, a pink that fades into
A succulent red cherry
Cherry fades into a lime
With the oncoming night.
Lime mixes with indigo.
Indigo collides with orange.
At last, orange fades out to a hunter green
And mixes with the now navy and plum sky
A ring of light cast shadows
Across the floor of the wooded clearing.
Specks break through
The now darkened sky.
The lemon yellow sun lingers on the edge of the horizon.
Soon, night engulfs the day
And we get ready to smart over.
In another brillant shade of color.
