Strips of Veneer

A single gleaming tear falls
Yet hits the ground in a million places
Flooding the Inland Empire
Evidence of paradise is now pristine

A precious silk is slowly torn
Screaming an ungodly sound
That fills every empty space
And could drive angels to suicide

A gorgeous gem sits in the dark
Till a lost ray of sun shines upon it
Inviting any and all to peer into it
Until it shatters; piercing their hearts

I sit in my white room all day long
Invoking pity in all onlookers
It is unfounded if they find empathy
For my walls surround the universe
