Desolate Endurance

.
Saffron grains of sand
Stirred by a breeze
Swirl gently, whimsically
Surrounding me

Hint of moisture
High in the cobalt sky
Haranguing, teasing me
How do I survive?

Land scorched and parched
Laid barren by the sun
Languishing, punished
Lone sentry unable to run

Clouds expand and weep
Cool drops of rain
Cascading, reviving me
Cactus blooms again
