Unlamented Guardian
.
Beacon of the coast
Spackled mortar, brick
Aged defender
When troubles grew thick
Forgotten sentinel
Hope in the night
Lashed but triumphant
From a hurricane's might
Steadfast and tall
In a gentle breeze
Sunlight faded paint
Cracked by winter's freeze
Corroded metal
Dull rusty brown
Light once bright
Diamond in your crown
Abandoned ally
Rapidly fading away
Endangered existence
Crumbling ruin, decay
Silent protector
On a craggy shore
Helpless as the world
Needs you no more

Very Nice
I have to believe this is the first ode to an abandoned lighthouse that I have come across. You told its story quite well and there is a sure taste of melancholy to it.
