~ Raindrops and Tears ~
Two raindrops race
Down a window pane;
Two teardrops trickle
Down her cheeks again.
Vacantly she stares
Through the train window,
Wistful, and weary,
Saddled with sorrow.
Storm clouds and thunder
Echo in her heart –
How could her fiancé
Be taken from the start?
Yesterday those teardrops
Were tears of ecstasy,
But now, cold shadows
Cast a pall of misery.
Black mascara stains
Leave an ugly trail
Beneath the black lace
Of this dreadful veil.
Those raindrops and tears
Tell of joyless hours,
Sunless and hopeless
Impotent of powers.
