The Crystal Vase

Do you have a Crystal Vase
To grace your humble home?
A lovely piece of workmanship
To call your very own?
Then privileged you are
And, in your estimation
You will see its value increase
Upon closer observation.

Peer deeper inside and see
An inner beauty to behold;
Each facet splits the light
Into silver, blue, and gold.
What was once white light
Now, there are colours to admire
Emanating from the heart
Like a glacier of ice-fire.

Is your wife no less a Treasure
To appreciate every day?
Ah, maybe she has some flaws
Yet, you’d have her no other way.
Your home, your life, would be
A very much darker place
Without her lovely presence
Without her smiling face.

So, place her on high
Like a Vase you so admire
And show off her beauty,
And her presence never tire.
For, this beauty deserves praise
And to be raised for all to see.
When seen at this level
You extol her Maker and femininity.

beautiful images

but the vase is empty, beautiful exterior set out of reach on a high shelf, untouchable, unused, too beautiful to put flowers in so it sits collecting dust on a high shelf. Interesting to equate this with femininity. Interesting read. raskin
