The last of the Angels: Angel Undone
In the end the Angel folded her wings
and let her body fall through the cold air toward cruel stone
till at last she sparks and catches flame and crashes down into a turbulent sea
An Angel of Fierce Countenance
An Angel of fierce countenance guards the Western gate
wings aflame in the dying sun
Eyes like the end of time.
Raiment the color of a thousand sunsets.
Milk in a Dark Sea
as the evening goes blue around the edges
a milk tide curls up through the dark Australian waters
whether it is mist or some albino algae who knows
Stepping on Stone Faces
A waterfall crying softly into the depths of the earth
a mountain pool at the stony heart of the earth
soft stone to the quick by the swift fall of water
Tears like Rain
blue black or gun metal gray
eyes like lightning
voice of thunder
and tears like rain
Resonance
resonance
riding the widening pools of wonder to shores of faith
rising with the light to greet a new day.
blessings.
Sunset
at the pit of fire at the edge of the things
on the horizon where the dregs of the day burned at sunset
white contrails streaked across the rose hued sky
Blunt Night
a blunt night after a brassy day
cacophonous sunrise
shrill shrikes shriek
and the sanitation engineer goes bowling for garbage.
Gentled
gentled by the lessing winds
the chimes tinkle now and then
as the breeze exhales over the balcony and across the tile floor of the patio
Ruin
Stone ruin beneath a desert sky
Traveling waters in an inland sea. Going aimlessly from shore to shore
living in a blue reflection azure in the arms of cerulean
National Poetry Month: Hot House Flowers
a hot wind blows out of the west
from whence comes summer storms
storm tossed muddy waters of an inland sea
the bamboo screen lifts repeated like a coquette with a busy skirt
Unexpected Sun
Sitting at my computer.
Waiting for the dawn as I peeked and poked.
But I am out of position.
And the rays have come to soon.
