THE TEAR
her eyelids looked downward
as though shamed by some force.
i saw a tear trickle and fall.
she looked upward a second
to see if by chance anyone noticed.
quickly they looked downward again
and rested on some unknown foreign object.
the room was filled with laughter
and merriment abounded in the smokened existence.
some old bluesy music sounded quite antiquated,
fixed in a time warp of long lost yesterdays.
why was she there, i wondered?
why was i there?
just some filler of time till another
time comes by.
she lit one up to her bright red lips,
quite unbecoming, i thought.
the door blew open with force
and another tear drop fell.....i noticed.
she got up and left with whatever force
that was the door's friend.
she glanced backward toward me.
she knew i knew and that i had seen the tear....
