Abandoned Aphid
Riding the city bus, I Looked
down and saw the stickly green
sucker - possibly displaced
from make-up flowers or house-bound plant.
Seemingly struggling with it’s wings;
struggling like I do sometimes
with mine. I wondered how it would
fare, this broken tanker, fallen:
steering west across my legs;
clinging to my dry sea
of cotton - every crease a wave
each crossed-stitch a current.

Steering West..
Across my legs. Love it, and I love the poem aswell.
Well written and interesting.
Great user name by the way!

Hey Debs,
thanks for your comments, much appreciated. I was quite happy with that line when it came to me as I scratched my head. I can't take credit for the user name though, I'm afraid - it's pinched from the amazing UK TV comedy show "The Day Today".
Cheers,
Mike.
Wicked!!
Great show, have it on dvd!
I cant remember that line though.

The headlines.
It was one of the bizarre spoof headlines they used to have; like "Boy made of paint wins bi-election", "'Sorry!' Yells exploding cleaner", "and, where now for boy raised by puffins?".
Pure poetry :)
Mike.
