Drawing conclusions as fact

Archaeology is interesting,
it seems going through garbage is insightful.
Culture, religion, farming, esthetics
it's all there in the sifting.
Reading between the lines as it were
of the rubbish left for all to see,
the discarded bits of this and that.
Seeing the dump as a fountainhead
of conclusions drawn
from the refuse of another.
Culture of the dead, the color
worn away from time and the elements,
aging and ageless all at the same time.

Anthropology is interesting as well,
but it is observing the colors
of behavior in all their splendor.
Enlightening.
I always saw this as the study
of the tangible, concrete, precise.
Still, based on observation
and interpretations
of the anthropologist.
A romantic filter that sifts through
behavior providing a greater
understanding of what is.
